Davenport Friends and Neighbours,
Let me first wish our Muslim neighbours and families Ramadan Mubarak to you and your loved ones this month. We hope this month brings you peace and joy.
Thanks to all Davenport residents who came out to the discussion with Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson. He did not hold back! We talked about climate change and how our response to it can support sustainable jobs, as well as emissions caps, the Canada Carbon Rebate, the Electricity Grid and much more. Thank you to all the Davenport residents who attended for your thoughtful questions. A transcript of the meeting is in the works and will be available next week.
My current intention is to support the motion before the House of Commons on March 18 regarding the Israel-Hamas war, which many of you are calling me about. The preamble of the motion is excellent — balanced and factual. With that said, I have some serious concerns about the second part of the motion — there is a lot of information missing, missing context, and it contains misinformation. I’ll be issuing a statement of my views before the vote.
The last two weeks have been constituency weeks — and I have made it a point to visit as many small businesses, nonprofits and organisations as I can across Davenport. The Davenport MP Report showcases the visits to local art galleries, shows, events, farmers market, and new businesses. Scroll down to see my full report.
These last two weeks were also an opportunity for me to share many of the federal funding programs currently available to them, including the My Main Street program. For a full list of federal government support to individuals and organisations, kindly scroll down to the federal funding section below.
There is always a large number of important federal announcements that are important for me to share with you – that I feel very strongly have an impact on our lives here in Davenport and impact the lives of all Canadians. Scroll down to the Important News and Federal Announcements section to see the latest news over the last few weeks — including reduced taxes for craft breweries, the latest on foreign affairs, dental care expansion, and more!
We are re-working our email updates to be more relevant to you. This version is “in transition” — the table of contents is coded and outdated, but will be revised by the next version. All that to say, it’s worth your while to scroll down and review the excellent information below. Thanks to everyone for your excellent input — helpful and grateful.
Have a great weekend! And as always, it’s an honour and pleasure to serve you Davenport!
My very best regards,
Julie Dzerowicz
