Hello Davenport friends and neighbours:

I am always trying to improve these bi-weekly updates to be relevant to you and to make it as easy as possible to find the updates you would like to read.

The update has 4 key sections:

My (brief) Letter to Davenport that will highlight what is on my mind and top issues I want to bring to your attention.

The MP Report outlines how I have been representing you at Davenport related events or in Ottawa and it also highlights key meetings, newcomers to the community and key local happenings.

Federal funding.  We want to do our part to keep inflation low, so we are trying to target our federal spending as well as limit it.  So if there is funding available for non-profits, small businesses or individuals, I make sure to highlight it in this section.

The final section highlights all the key announcements (we call this section Important News and Federal Announcements) made since the last bi-weekly update that the federal government has made and that is relevant to Davenport. The external news is filled with affordability, housing and climate pricing stories – but the work we are doing on AI, around the world (global affairs & international development), arts and culture, national defence,  among many other areas continue to be top priorities  for our government.  Below you have a taste of some of the top announcements — for the full list click here. I encourage you to scan all the links – there is so much going on!

I hope you enjoy!

It is inspiring and instills great hope in us when the #community comes together for one another, especially in times when the world seems upended and unstable. Local #kindness makes a positive difference.

I want to thank Amy, the organizer, and her mom for putting together such a wonderful event. Additionally, thank you to Oasis for being a champion for unhoused people. It was a pleasure to deliver remarks to local #DavenportTO constituents.

Every year, the Hindu community around the world c Every year, the Hindu community around the world celebrates #Holi. During this fesitval, everyone comes together, throwing powder paint and coloured water. Fittingly, it's also known as the "Festival of Colour."

Today is the day that Hindus celebrate Holi this year. This celebration welcomes the end of the winter season and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. It’s a time to celebrate peace, renew and strengthen #friendships, and embrace the season ahead with optimism and joy.

I would also like to recognize and celebrate the important contributions Canadians of the Hindu faith have made, and continue to make, to our country.

We have a great #Indigenous Women's Shelter, and it was a pleasure to show her the amazing support available in our riding. The Shelter was launched over a year ago, and they have also received #federalgovernment funding. I am grateful to the team of the Women's Shelter for their warm welcome.

I am a strong champion and advocate of the Defence I am a strong champion and advocate of the Defence, Security, and Resilience Bank. To meet the 5% of GDP defence spending target, it is imperative that we gain additional access to capital to make those #investments. So, it was great to bump into Kevin Reed, President and COO of the #DSRB Development Group, and Rob Murray, CEO of the DSRB Development Group, in Brussels to chat further.
