Julie is engaged in a number of parliamentary friendship groups that are important to Davenport and build stronger relationships between Canadian diasporas and their respective countries.
Davenport has the largest Portuguese community in the country, and Julie is a Chair of Canada-Portugal Parliamentary Friendship Group. Julie is of both of Ukrainian and Mexican descent, so it is important for her to be acutely engaged in the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group, and as Co-Chair Canada-Mexico Friendship Group.
Davenport also has a significant Turkish and Brazilian populations, and Julie advocates for these communities through her position as a Chair of both Canada-Turkiye and Canada-Brazil Friendship Groups

Canada-Portugal Parliamentary Friendship Group
Julie is the Co-Chair of the Canada-Portugal Parliamentary Friendship Group and, in Davenport, she represents the riding with the highest percentage of ethnic Portuguese in Canada.
The accomplishments of the group include:
- Starting Portugal Day on the Hill to celebrate the contributions of Portuguese Canadians to Canada. The event is attended by the representatives of the Portuguese community, as well as parliamentarians, and senators.
- Signing of the Youth Mobility Agreement with Portugal which allows for an exchange of 2000 Portuguese to come to Canada to work, study and travel.
- For the first time ever, in June 2022, the group organized the first Portuguese flag raising during the visit of the Speaker of the Portuguese national assembly and the Ambassador of Portugal.
Canada-Mexico Parliamentary Friendship Group
Julie is also Co-Chair of the Canada-Mexico Parliamentary Friendship Group and is proud to be of Mexican descent.
The Canada-Mexico Parliamentary Friendship Group aims to foster closer ties and promote cooperation between the Parliament of Canada and the Parliament of Mexico. Founded on the principles of mutual respect and shared interests, the Friendship Group currently comprises of 15 parliamentarians representing various parties or groups, including the Liberal Party of Canada, Conservative Party of Canada, Bloc Québécois, and the Independent Senators Group.
