Hello Davenport friends and neighbours!
MP Julie Dzerowicz is away this Friday — she is representing Canada, as Chair of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association, at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Lithuania.
We hope you know the drill by now: we, her staff, will be writing the letter today.
Let’s begin!
First, we must talk about the weather. It’s funny how much you realize you missed the sun once it’s here (distance makes the heart grow fonder). We know we aren’t taking it for granted, for who knows when it’ll get cloudy and start raining again.
Billy Bishop
Our office has been receiving many calls and emails regarding the ongoing Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport situation. We want to assure you that all your messages, comments, and concerns are being received by MP Julie. We expect a statement from our MP on the subject in the very near future.
To stay up-to-date, we have posted all of MP Julie’s media comments, statements, social media posts, radio segments — all of them — on her website. We highly recommend heading here to see her most updated position and comment. Once MP Julie comes out with her statement, it will also be posted here.
Canada Moves to Build Defence Industry At Home
Prime Minister Carney announced at the CANSEC trade show that Canada has entered into negotiations to procure the GlobalEye — Saab’s state-of-the-art Airborne Early Warning & Control aircraft.
This investment is projected to support 3,000 jobs across Canada’s aerospace and defence sector, from skilled trades to engineering, and will see at least 40 aircraft manufactured right here in Canada over the next 15 years. GlobalEye aircraft are built on the Canadian-made Bombardier Global 6500, a testament to the world-class talent in our industry. This procurement is a direct result of Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy, which is positioning Canadian workers and businesses to take advantage of $180 billion in defence procurement opportunities over the next decade — building a stronger, more secure Canada for generations to come.

Find Us Near You in June!
The month of June will be a busy one for our office! We’re booked out every weekend to attend parades and festivals. Keep an eye out on our social media so you know when and where to find our booth. We’ll see you at the following:
June 5-7: Do West Fest
June 13: Portugal Day Parade
June 19-21: FairBank Summerfest
June 25-28: Toronto Pride Festival
Milano-Cortina Olympians and Paralympians honoured on Parliament Hill (and in our Letter!)
Parliament Hill and Rideau Hall were transformed into a celebration of sport and national pride, as more than 140 Olympic and Paralympic athletes were welcomed to Ottawa for Team Canada Celebration Day. Our incredible athletes earned 21 Olympic medals and 15 Paralympic medals at the 2026 Winter Games. It was a fitting tribute to these remarkable Canadians — their dedication, resilience, and excellence on the world stage make all of us proud from coast to coast to coast.
This is just the beginning of the sports season in Toronto. More on FIFA incoming…
That is all for this week, Davenport! We recommend checking out “Important Federal Government Announcements & Updates” below so that you get the latest information on the wealth of stuff that happened across Canada this week.
Alas, have a safe and wonderful weekend.
